The first image taken for a while…on Rosslare Strand. I used a Helios 2/58 with an adapter on my Sony A700. It was all manual control and it has an insane DOF which I discovered when I reviewed the images afterwards. Manual focusing isn’t nearly as accurate when you’re reliant on your own eye. Not that it made a difference on this one.

The technique was to convert to B&W, blur, add noise, blur again (important to subdue the noise) then add a vignette. The white frame to emphasise the dull, almost imagination-evoking lack of detail. I like this sort of image although I can fully understand anyone else viewpoint that it ruins a good image. It all depends what’s in your mind at the time…this is in my mind.
